On 200th birthday, Mexico battered but not broken (AP)

In this Sept. 5, 2010 photo, a volunteer holds a puppet of a Mexican revolutionary soldier during a general rehearsal of the upcoming bicentennial independence parade at the racetrack in Mexico City. Many Mexicans say there is little to celebrate in Mexico today, with its violence, corruption and inequity. The country approaches the 200th anniversary of its 1810 independence uprising on Sept. 15, 2010 and the centennial of its 1910 Revolution on Nov. 20, 2010 battered and full of self-questioning, but with more openness and debate than perhaps at any other time in its history.
